In this article, we will try to answer to some frequently asked questions:

-What are the female fertility tests? Do they help me trying to get pregnant?

-Are female fertility tests useful for me?

-What do the results of the female fertility test show us?

-Which female fertility test is right for me?

What are female fertility tests, how do they help me in trying to get pregnant?

Female fertility tests are diagnostic tests that detect the concentration of a specific hormone in the urine, called FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone). In order for ovulation to occur, the female body releases FSH to develop the egg which will lead to ovulation that particular month. If there is not an adequate supply of quality eggs or our ovaries are not functioning well, the female body will try to cope in order to ovulate by releasing a large amount of FSH. This high concentration of FSH is detected through the test and shows us if there is a malfunction in one of the most critical and important indicators of female fertility, the ovary and egg system.

Female fertility tests are a reliable tool that can be used easily and quickly from the comfort of our home and offer valid results, without having to spend a lot to find out.

Are female fertility tests useful for me?

Checking egg quality and ovarian function can be particularly useful if one or more of the following apply:

-We are over 35 years old

-We have an unstable cycle

-We try coordinated (using a valid method of finding fertile days) to conceive, over 12 months.

-We want to check if we are approaching menopause (especially important if there is a family history of early menopause).

What do the results of the female fertility test show us?

-If there is a supply of quality eggs and our ovaries are functioning adequately, the body does not need to produce a large amount of the hormone and our FSH will be low (below 25mlU/ml) so the test will show us a negative result.

-If the ovaries are not working properly and/or there is not a sufficient reserve of eggs, the hormone will be detected in a high concentration (over 25mlU/ml) in our body, as it will produce it in a large amount, in the effort to achieve ovulation and the test will show us a positive result.

Therefore, the ideal result we want in female fertility tests is NEGATIVE, as this shows us the adequate functioning of the ovaries.
